Sage News: Sage Acquires Alchemex
Sage North America is pleased to announce the acquisition of Alchemex Pty Ltd. The leading business intelligence technology company and provider of Sage Business Intelligence software was acquired by Softline, a member of The Sage Group plc, effective October 1, 2011.
Sage views this as a strategic acquisition to address the burgeoning need for business intelligence in the small and mid-sized customer base worldwide, and this demonstrates Sage’s commitment to the Intelligence product. Erik Kaas, VP product management, Sage ERP, explains, “The acquisition is important because it shows commitment to the Intelligence product, and Sage will continue to invest in the product and integrations with Sage ERP products to provide world-class Excel®-based reporting.”
As of October 1, 2011, the executive leadership of Alchemex joined the Sage Group to drive the business. Gary Boddington will continue to drive efforts in North America as the VP and general manager of Alchemex, based in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, while Charles Teversham will continue in his role as managing director of Alchemex, based in South Africa. Says Boddington, “We are very excited to be part of the Sage Group and look forward to working together to help SMBs get even more value and insight from their business software.”

Important Roadmap Update for Sage ERP Accpac
Sage ERP Accpac is a Sage strategic global product and continues to be well-positioned in the mid-market with version 6.0 offering a comprehensive business management solution with a solid technology foundation. Version 6.0 includes a new portal with snapshots and inquiry capabilities, as well as a seamless integration with Sage CRM (see www.sageerpaccpac6.com).
Version 6.1 is the next step on our journey through the delivery of a new web platform offering full support for SData (Sage’s standard RESTful web services interface for application integration) and a new release of the Sage Web Toolkit (tools and technology built on the open-source Google Web Toolkit that enables the building of integrated web applications based on HTML5/CSS3/Java).
Version 6.1 was scheduled for release at the end of this year, but the work needed to build out a world class web platform has exceeded our original estimates. We have decided to delay the release until mid-2012 to ensure a release that will meet the expectations of our customers, resellers, and development partner ecosystem without compromising its quality. Our R&D team will continue to investigate ways to accelerate the delivery of the web platform.

Sage is committed to investing in our products across the ERP portfolio to ensure that they meet the needs of our customers for web access, integration, and mobility.
Best regards,
Erik Kaas VP, Product Management Sage ERP
